Solis Aguilera (Miwok/Chicano), LCSW

Board Vice President

Solis was born and raised in the Bay Area Indian community. Many of his early memories are rooted in community and culture—attending Pow-Wows, Big Times, dancing with the

Hintil Kuu CA Pomo Dance Group, and spending time at the Inter-Tribal Friendship House, where as a youth he worked alongside his parents in the food booths and gift shop. Both of his parents served on the organization’s Board, and their commitment to community helped shape Solis’s own path of service. Outside of these spaces, he also spent many years playing soccer with the Oakland Grasshoppers and later coaching with Tribal Athletics Program.

Solis went on to attend UC Berkeley, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Native American Studies and Ethnic Studies with a minor in Education. After graduating, he worked for several years in the Youth Services Program at the Native American Health Center, supporting Native youth and families. His experience there deepened his commitment to community-based work and inspired him to return to UC Berkeley to pursue a Master’s degree in Social Welfare.

Following graduate school, Solis spent ten years with Alameda County Social Services in the Department of Children and Family Services as a Child Welfare Worker, advocating for the safety and well-being of children and families. Today, he serves as Director of the Bay Area Field Office at Casey Family Programs, the nation’s largest operating foundation dedicated to safely reducing the need for foster care. Solis is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and is currently developing a private practice that continues his commitment to supporting the well-being of individuals, families, and communities.
