Leah Johnson (Oglala Lakota)

Leah Johnson (Oglala Lakota)  is the Development and Outreach Associate for the Village Team. She holds a degree in Urban Studies from Stanford University, with special interests in land use, sustainability, youth development, and education. Her work in the community began with a fellowship in the Ravenswood School District in East Palo Alto, where she saw the deep intersections between housing, education, income, and the built environment. At Friendship House, she works deeply within the Green Initiatives of the Village project, leading the Green Cultural Zone and facilitating community engagement workshops and outreach. Much of her work centers the Urban Indian experience, encouraging Indigenous placemaking and empowerment right in the heart of San Francisco. Leah also supports the Village SF team through fund development, grant writing, and other project support as needed. Her work is rooted in community, focusing on sustainability, equity, and systemic change.
