Benjamin Bratt
Award-winning Actor, Producer, and Community Advocate
Benjamin Bratt is an award-winning actor, producer, and community advocate whose nearly forty-year career is rooted in his upbringing as the son of a strong Indigenous single mother from Peru. A San Francisco native, he is a proud graduate of the San Francisco Unified School District and credits publicly funded arts and music programs with nurturing his passion for performance. His filmography spans nearly thirty features, with acclaimed performances in Piñero, Traffic, The River Wild, Blood In Blood Out, Miss Congeniality, and Doctor Strange, and he is also beloved as a voice actor for roles in Despicable Me 2, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and Pixar’s Academy Award–winning Coco. Through his production company 5 Stick Films, Bratt has produced several notable works, including the San Francisco–made La Mission, the Peabody Award–winning documentary Dolores, and the Student Academy Award–winning short Wings of Dust. Guided by the activism and love of his mother, he remains deeply connected to the Bay Area Indigenous community and is a strong supporter of the Friendship House Village SF project, a Native-led initiative serving over 18,000 American Indians in San Francisco.
